PV module testing and certification - SERIS expands its range of services

Singapore, 21 October 2009

The take-off signal has recently been given to the PV Module Performance Analysis Unit of the Solar Energy Research Institute of Singapore (SERIS), with the move to its off-campus testing laboratory. With this laboratory, SERIS’ portfolio of services now includes PV module performance testing.

Located in the I-Quest @ IBP building in the International Business Park at Jurong East, the test laboratory offers full and partial performance testing of PV modules, as well as single component tests, according to the standards of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). Wafer-based modules as well as thin-film modules can be tested according to the respective IEC standards 61215 and 61646.

PV module certification according to IEC standard 61730 is offered by the Singaporean company VDE-ISE Pte Ltd, which is also located in the I-Quest @ IBP building.

Prof Joachim LUTHER, CEO of SERIS, said: “In partnership with VDE-ISE Pte Ltd, we are now able to offer a large range of PV module testing and certification services, from outdoor testing over UV pre-conditioning to mechanical load testing.”

With its new laboratory, SERIS helps PV module manufacturers to ensure that their modules meet the international standards for durability, safety and performance.
