The Novel Cell Concepts and Simulation Group researches non-traditional technologies for solar cells, mainly for wafer based silicon solar cells but also for thin-film silicon cells and thin-film on silicon tandem solar cells. Examples are contact passivation and homojunction/heterojunction hybrid cell concepts. The group’s PV Simulation Team focuses on multi-dimensional numerical computer simulations for all types of solar cell architectures (device, process, metrology and energy yield simulations).
