Novel Cell Concepts and Simulation Group

The Novel Cell Concepts & Simulation Group researches nontraditional technologies for silicon wafer solar cells, mainly for conventional single-junction silicon solar cells but also for thinfilm on silicon tandem solar cells. Examples are the development of hybrid (homo-/hetero-junction) solar cells and contactpassivated solar cells, screening of novel materials (tunnel layer development for contact passivation and tandem applications), and novel process development (the use of laser processing and plating for device integration). The group’s PV Simulation Team focuses on multi-dimensional numerical computer simulations for all types of silicon solar cell architectures (including device, process, metrology, and energy yield simulations).
